This view shows how the Port of Felixstowe is build in the sheltered estuary of the River Orwell. This is a clear view of Felixstowe docks before it was considerably expanded to the west into Trimley marshes. The Languard container terminal is clearly seen in the centre of the image along with the Ro-Ro terminal and the Trinity terminal in the distance.
In the foreground is Languard Common and it's Napoleonic fort along with the nature reserve that is found at the southern end of the point. This feature is a spit which has formed like that at Orford Ness. |
