Felixstowe - Docks South (16 / D18):

Felixstowe - Docks South

This is a general view of the Port of Felixstowe looking towards Languard Point. The North Sea can be seen on the top left while the port facilities are found on the sheltered western side of the Orwell estuary.

The dock basin, areas of warehouses, container parks and gas and oil storage tanks can be seen along with Languard container terminal in the distance.

The land along the estuary is flat and up until recently was salt marsh that had developed behind the spit of Languard Point. The port is built on land that has been reclaimed. More development is planned to take the port further up the Orwell estuary. Modern residential areas and a caravan park, like that at Corton, can also be seen.
