This is the Lady Lane industrial estate on the northern outskirts of Hadleigh. The development dates back to the 1960's when many of the original companies were encouraged to relocate from London. A variety of products are produced on this industrial estate including insulation materials (Celotex), flavours for the food industry (Dragoco), specialist electronics (Prosser Scientific), injection moulded plastics (Skar Plastron), and furniture (Jayrest).
Like many industrial estates the service and distribution industries feature strongly. A major employer on this estate, B.A.S.F, has recently had to relocate to another part of the country leaving the large building on the lower right vacant. The farmland on the right leads to the by-pass and could be used to extend the estate in the future. |
