Lowestoft - Lake Lothing 3 (8 / 10):

Lowestoft - Lake Lothing 3

This is the north western end of Lake Lothing. The water of the inner harbour can be seen in the foreground along with various ship repair yards. Ship building and repair have long been associated with this area as Lowestoft was once an important East Anglian fishing port, though this has dramatically decreased over the last few decades. The offshore oil industry training base is seen in the foreground, the bright orange boats being used to evacuate exploration platforms in an emergency.

The main Ipswich to Lowestoft railway line cuts across the image in the top left hand corner while Mutford Bridge is just out of shot on the left.
