The main focus of this image is the Coronation exercise yard. Here horses are prepared for racing as the main Newmarket race-course is nearby. The racing industry is a major employer in the Newmarket area and accounts for a significant part of the local economy.

A development of large detached houses is seen at the bottom of the image. Each of these are set in a large garden landscaped with shrubs and trees. Other areas of Newmarket, such as the town centre and St Mary's estate, are very different both in terms of the layout and style of housing.
