This is a close up view of the dock basin in the port of Felixstowe. The dock is seen along with a ship unloading alongside the quayside. Port facilities such as cranes and large warehouses can clearly be seen as well as a large area in the top right hand corner that is used for storing containers.
In the lower right there is a Ro-Ro terminal. This is part of an of an extensive area of port facilities. Most containers are handled on the Languard and Trinity quays as deeper water is available for the larger ships.
The basin is part of the original port which developed as a naval seaplane base. |
