Corton - Farmland (8 / 23) :

Corton - Farmland

The photograph was taken in late summer (August) as the cereal crop, probably wheat, has been harvested. Compare this with crops that are as yet uncut at Hadleigh. The linear pattern of this arable crop shows the direction in which the combine harvester travelled and bales of straw can be seen awaiting collection. The gas pumping station, at the bottom of the photograph, is part of the gas supply network. The pipeline carrying the gas from the North Sea is buried below the surface of the fields to protect the environment.
