Long Melford - Hall and Gardens (3 / 20a):

Long Melford - Hall and Gardens

This is a close up view of Long Melford Hall and gardens with the A134, Sudbury to Bury St Edmunds road on the left hand side.

The hall, built by Sir William Corder in 1560, can clearly be seen in a setting of planned gardens and driveways. The surrounding area is parkland and although this is a planned landscape it is used for the grazing of cattle.

The ponds in the lower part of the image may have been stocked with fish to provide food for the hall. Above this you can see a tennis court behind which is a rather ornate wall that is not straight but weaves from side to side.
