Long Melford - Hall and Village (1 / 31):

Long Melford - Hall and Village

This is the northern part of Long Melford showing the Long Melford Hall, village green and church in the distance. The road is the A134 which links Sudbury with Bury St Edmunds. The area surrounding the village is arable farmland but the land around the hall is parkland. Notice the rectangular fishponds which were originally stocked with fish for consumption by owners of the hall. Long Melford Church stands at the end of the village in between the two great houses of Melford Hall and Kentwell which is out of the frame at the top right.
