The River Ore is shown along with the quayside at Orford. Many of the houses were once fishermen's cottages but with the decline of this industry they have been taken over as holiday homes. There are facilities for yachtsmen including launching and the repair of boats. The river is flowing southwards as it has been blocked from entering the sea at Aldeburgh by the development of the spit at Orford Ness.
The unusually large car park is the remainder of a government project on Orford Ness which is now owned by the National Trust. |
