This is the old Market Place in Bury St Edmunds. The photograph was not taken on market day as you can see the area is being used for car parking. The buildings are now used for shops and offices though many of them would have been private houses in the past. To the bottom right there is a new shopping precinct and pedestrianised area. Many people question whether these modern developments blend in with a traditional English market town. To the left of this image is the Georgian Corn exchange.
