This shows the town centre of Bury St Edmunds from the Abbey gardens in the lower right to the railway station at the top. The Market Place is seen in the centre of the image along with the new shopping centre. This is the C.B.D. of this market town. It makes an interesting comparison with the same area in Ipswich which is obviously more extensive.

The Abbey gate and car parking in Crown Street stand out clearly in the lower right of the image. The low side lighting make the main north - south streets stand out, the names of which can be found on a large scale O.S. map of the town.
