This is part of the town centre of Haverhill which is found centred around the Church. To the left of this area is the market square while to the right is a large area of industry.
Notice the close proximity between the contrasting housing and industrial areas. This could cause problems for the people living there from pollution and increased levels of traffic. Haverhill has other more modern industrial developments on the outskirts of the town.
Haverhill expanded rapidly in the 1960's as it took overspill population from London. The original market town grew as large areas of modern housing estates were added. This changed the character of the settlement considerably. |
