This is the town centre of Beccles in north Suffolk. As could be expected of any old market town the buildings are very closely packed around the market place (centre) making the maximum use of space while only as you go away from this area do you see any green space or gardens. This part of the town is built on a slight rise that is above the level of flooding of the River Waveney that flows through marshland to the north of the town.
Like other tows such as Woodbridge and Hadleigh car parking is a real problem. At least two areas on the right of the image have been used for this purpose. |
