Ipswich - Henley Road (18 / D10):

Ipswich - Henley Road

This residential area is found in the suburbs to the north of Ipswich town centre. The road running diagonally from top left to bottom centre is Henley Road which leads to the town centre. The road that crosses this at right angles is Valley Road which is part of the towns pre-war by-pass.

Most of the houses are large inter-war detached properties with large gardens. The further you go from the town centre the younger the houses and the smaller the gardens tend to become.

At the crossroads there is a 1960's development of flats - Henley Court. Compare the pattern of housing with that at Castle Hill.

Ipswich Sports Centre is the only non-residential activity seen in this view. The tennis courts and car park of this can be seen on the left of the image.
