This is the northern part of Lowestoft town centre with the Triangle Market in the left of the foreground.
Lowestoft, like most towns, was not designed with the car in mind and with increased traffic has suffered serious congestion. The town's solution to the problem was to built an inner relief road, the roads and roundabouts of which can be seen clearly in the centre of the image. Other towns such as Ipswich, Hadleigh and Sudbury developed by-passes to relieve the pressure of traffic.
One of Lowestoft's tower blocks can be in the lower right which was the planners solution to the house shortage in the past.
In the top left can be seen the old Balley shoe factory which is now partly occupied by the bookings department of Hoseasons Holidays. |
