This is a very detailed view of the central business district of Lowestoft which is to the north of the harbour.

The main shopping street, London Road cuts through the image diagonally. This area, like Ipswich, has been pedestrianised in an attempt to improve the shopping facilities in the town.

The roof car park of the Gateway store can be seen in the foreground whilst the buildings and entrance to the Britten shopping precinct can be seen in the background. Stores selling comparison goods such as Woolworths, British Home Stores and W.H.Smiths are found in this area.

The red vehicles at the top right of the image are buses parked in the bus station to the rear of the Britten Centre.
