Mildenhall - Town Centre (7 / HM3):

Mildenhall - Town Centre

The town centre of Mildenhall is seen clustered around the church. Originally a market town, Mildenhall has grown rapidly along with the local economy due to the presence of the American air base which is found to the north west of the town centre. Like many other Suffolk towns the buildings are all closely spaced and have not changed greatly since the were built in the Middle Ages. However, Mildenhall also has some new developments away from the town centre.

The image shows very tightly packed older buildings but a new residential development can also be seen in the top left. The settlement is found to the north of the A11 which by passes the town.
