This is a close up view of the St Mary's estate in Newmarket. This is a very compact development with the houses having been built very close together giving a very high population density. Compare this with older and newer developments. Notice the rather uniform rows of houses which appear to vary little from each other in style or in size.

When the development was planned little consideration was given to car ownership as it appears that few of the houses have any facilities for parking. This has resulted in a car parking problem as people are parking on the road outside their houses. The estate is visually well protected from the surrounding area by the belt of trees.
