Newmarket - Town Centre (1 / 2):

Newmarket - Town Centre

This is part of Newmarket High Street which used to be the main road from Bury St Edmunds to Cambridge. The buildings clearly show a linear pattern of development. The buildings are mainly shops and offices. To the south of the centre you can see evidence of the towns link with horse racing in the form of stabling facilities. To the north west can be seen the most recent residential development which has spread towards the A14 (formerly the A45) by-pass.
