This shows the crowded town centre of Sudbury along with a church found alongside the main shopping area. The through traffic avoids the congestion of the town centre by taking the northern by-pass.
Development on the western edge of the town has been restricted by the flood-plain of the River Stour which is liable to flooding. The water meadows next to the river can be seen in the top left hand corner. The white building in this area was once a water mill but has been converted into a hotel. Other water mills have also used the water power along the river valley. |
