Tommy's Campaign is the national charity which funds vital medical research into the causes of premature birth, miscarriage and stillbirth. In the UK alone, 40,000 babies are born prematurely, one in four women miscarry and one in 150 babies are lost through stillbirth. Sadly, these figures have barely changed for the last 50 years despite the magnitude of the problem.
Many premature babies spend their first few weeks of life in an incubator and are vulnerable to permanent disabilities such as blindness, deafness or cerebral palsy. More babies die as a result of being born premature than from any other cause.
Tommy's Campaign is determined to prevent this heartache and is funding a wide range of innovative fetal health research projects nationwide to give all babies a better start in life.
Tommy's Campaign relies entirely on voluntary donations. If you would like to help, please write to: Tommy's Campaign/TPK, London, SE99 6RD or Telephone 0171 620 0188.
Guides and Scouts (Brownies, Cubs, Beavers and Rainbows too....) have some extra special chances to support the Thorpe Park charities in 1997, including Tommy's Campaign.
Fun in the park can help raise much needed cash for two of Thorpe Park's 1997 charity partners - supporting Tommy's Campaign as well as the Queen Elizabeth's Foundation for Disabled People.
If you make a group visit (that's at least 12 paying people) on any of our charity days, the entry cost for each member of your party will be just £7.50. That's a big saving of up to £5.00 on the normal group admission cost!
And the real bonus is that a third of your admission charge will be donated to the charities.
